Disney Trip Roundup

Taking a Disney trip soon? We are!
As I prepare our family for our upcoming trip I had to take a look back at all the fun preparation and success of our last trip and helpful things to get us ready for this trip.

Like most other things I love turning to Pinterest for ideas and inspiration and for a Disney trip it sure was not lacking on the fun! From cute matching outfits, vacationing tips, Disney fashion and accessories you can go beyond your imagination with fun while preparing for your trip.

To start our preparation far ahead I made this fun Disney savings jar last year to help a little with the expense of the trip or at least to add to our Churro fund! :) Using a 1 gallon glass jug we had plenty of time to save our change for the trip. Plus it's a fun way to save knowing it will go towards your vacation.

For our previous trip I made my daughter and I these fun Minnie Mouse ear hair clips. They were super easy, cheap to make and very fun to wear.

To save our sanity on our long drive to Disneyland I made these fun Disney themed Road Trip Baskets for our kids and they were a huge hit!

When we returned home from our last Disneyland trip I felt it was a HUGE success and had people asking how we got things to go so well and to me it was all the planning we did ahead. So I jotted down some things we did and shared my thoughts with our Disney Trip Tips.

Lastly, my most recent preparation for our trip has been starting our countdown to Disneyland. With this fun countdown you can get the whole family excited and ready for your trip.

Disney Countdown

Who wouldn't be overly excited for a Disneyland trip??!! Well I know my family is beyond anxious for our upcoming trip and in honor of the never ending "when are we going? when are we going?" I made this fun Disney Countdown!

We will be headed back to Disneyland for our son's 3rd birthday this year and after the success of our last trip for our daughters 3rd birthday even my husband and I are excited for this trip! So I would be lying if I said this wasn't for me as well :)

The concept of this countdown is basically that each chain link represents 1 day until we leave. I also added to the wall a written countdown using chalkboard Vinyl that I cut with my silhouette machine as well as a fun activity of the things we look forward to. As the days go on and I hear the kids saying more and more things they are excited for then I can add those to other Mickey silhouettes on the wall.

To start the chain links. You can either cut by hand or like me use a Silhouette die cut machine. I used this template for the Mickey Ear links then simply used the cut tool and cut the ears off for the plain links.

I also cut out small circles for the Mickey dots on the red links but you can also use a hole punch as well. In the end you should have a pile like this of the 4 colored links and dots.

Starting with a Mickey head begin linking the chains together by stapling the strips together.

Once you have all the links in place, find a place to hang it up.

Once hung I adjusted my links to hide the staples then glued the white dots onto the red links.

For this part of I used my Silhouette machine and cut out extra Mickey silhouettes to add what we were looking forward to. It's a great way to get excited for the trip.

Now it's all done!! Very simple but very fun way to count down to your next Disney trip!

Despicable Me- Minion Party Ideas

It's hard to imagine our little guy is going to be 3 soon!! It seems like just yesterday we were preparing his nursery for his arrival. Now at almost 3 years old he is a total boy in all ways. He loves cars, trains, airplanes, dirt, being outside- pretty much all things boy! The one "thing" he has talked about and has been in love with lately is the Despicable Me movies and especially those cute little Minions, so when we asked what theme he would like for his birthday it was no surprised when he yelled "MINIONS!"

This year his birthday party is not going to be as lavish as his past Sesame Street 1st birthday or his Barnyard/Farm themed 2nd birthday because in a few weeks we will be celebrating in Disneyland! In 2012 we celebrated our daughters 3rd birthday in Disneyland and knew we had to do the same for him on his 3rd birthday.

So this year we will be having a "dinner party" with our family and close family friends before our trip. Of course I initially began jotting down notes for his Minion themed party but then I took to Pinterest and was awed by all the amazing Despicable Me parties people have thrown. You can completely get carried away with this theme. While trying to keep things to a minimum I wanted to share some great findings for a "Minion" party that I found along the way.

First I wanted to share this absolutely adorable party by Somewhere in the Middle. My favorite part was for sure the Box of Shame she created. If you have seen the movie then you would know how cute this addition would be to any Despicable Me party.

Also from Somewhere in the Middle is this adorable Party Rules sign. Also to go along with the movie this is an adorable way to "welcome" your guests :)

A very simple way to add a pop of color to go with the theme are these napkin and plastic ware sets. I love the details that were put into this Despicable Me party that was featured on Kara's Party Ideas.

Also from Kara's Party Ideas Despicable Me Party is this beautiful example of the pops of colors that they used. Going along with a themes colors can make a great statement and I just love the uses of color in this party.

This fun dessert table was one of my favorites because of the awesome cake in the center and I loved all of the simple but fun food and decor that was added to the table. Take a look at the rest of the party over on Catch My Party.

These Minion Balloons seen over on Catch My Party are a great way to decorate some simple yellow balloons to add to the theme.

If only I intended to have games at my son's party I would totally make this adorable "Pin the goggles on the Minion game" found over on Catch My Party.

Last but definitely not least is this sweet Despicable Me party by Happy Home Fairy. I just love all the details that she put into her son's birthday party. My favorite parts were these favor bags and the Robot Cookies below. Check out the rest of the party here.

You can head over to my Minion Party Pinterest Board as well to see all the links to these great ideas and more!

Master Bedroom Makeover

Today I am giving you a littl preview of our Master Bedroom Makeover. Since moving in about a year ago we never got around to decorating above our bed. Our bed was pretty much just thrown together and the only thing I had purchased was the bedding before moving. I had so much inspiration on Pinterest to go with a grey, yellow and turquoise color scheme.

I absolutely love the look of gallery walls and knew one above the bed would be so fun so once the colors and ideas were decided I began shopping and searching for all the accents.

This was a fun project. I took a pre-cut piece of wood from our local craft store and painted it teal and added the vinyl decal.

This was an old picture frame that I spray painted then I bought the unfinished letters at the craft store and painted them with metallic acrylic paint.

Instructions to add to canvas here

Bedding set from Ikea
Chevron blanket Wal-Mart
Lamps from Target
Pillows I sewed a simple pocket pillow cover for them

Big Boy Bedroom Reveal!

Today is the day that I am finally sharing with you my son's Big Boy Bedroom!
As you might have seen from my inspiration post I was going for a nautical feel but I wanted to incorporate more than just boats.

I found this perfect decal on Etsy and I decided to work the theme around the saying. So I used planes, trains, boats and some car decor throughout the bedroom while sticking with the red, white and blue color scheme. The wood pieces along the side of the decal were purchased unfinished at our local craft store then I painted them with acrylic paints.

The wood boat shelf in the corner was a gift from my Dad for my son's 2nd birthday and it matched the room perfectly!

Lamp bought from Home Goods
Train Piggy Bank from Home Goods
Anchor Canvas Picture: Print here and instructions here

The Pilot in Training sign I painted by using a pre-cut piece of wood from our local craft store

This plane frame as well as the one below are the inexpensive unfinished frames that you buy from the craft store and I painted them with acrylic paint.

The canvas pictures I made using these instructions here.

And lastly I sewed this pennant banner to match it all.

Thanks for stopping by
